September Champion of Hope

Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton

We are honoured to recognize the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton as WINGS’ Champion of Hope for the month of September.

For a number of years now, the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton have been a trusted partner and friend to WINGS. What stands out most about this community is not only the practical help they provide, but the way they offer it—with gentleness, respect, and a genuine eagerness to serve. Their members have been consistently welcoming, treating families at WINGS with dignity and care. They have also acted as true ambassadors, helping to raise awareness about resources in the wider community and standing in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence.

With over 70 families, the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton are a local Muslim community dedicated to their faith and to the prosperity of those around them. Through Project Rise—their global philanthropic initiative—they have supported WINGS in many ways, including:

  • Preparing and delivering fresh, hot, and nutritious meals for families at WINGS

  • Assembling hampers and care packages with essential items for families settling in

  • Providing holiday gifts to bring joy to children

  • Donating new and gently used clothing

  • Volunteering to help set up shelter furniture for families moving in

Looking ahead, the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton have shared with us their plans for this September as our Champion of Hope. Their members will be hosting hot-meal events throughout the month and engaging in targeted fundraising to support WINGS’ most urgent needs. These efforts reflect the emphasis of their global community leader, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, on compassion and service—values the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton strive to live out alongside their neighbours every day.

At WINGS, we are deeply grateful for the Dawoodi Bohras of Edmonton. Their steady, hands-on support has eased the burden for families during times of great transition, and their kindness has helped restore a sense of community and hope. They show us what it means to walk alongside survivors with humility and care, and we are honoured to count them among our Champions of Hope.
