When a young boy arrived at WINGS with his mother, he carried more than a backpack. He carried fear, uncertainty, and a longing to feel safe.
On his first day in our children’s group, he quietly colored a rainbow on an “All About Me” worksheet. But when it came time to write his name, he froze. With a whisper, he asked, “Can you write it for me?” Then he added, “Can you write A+ too?”
Weeks later, after care, consistency, and kindness, he stood at the whiteboard and wrote his name all by himself. Then, with a proud smile, he added his very own A+.
That simple moment marked something powerful. A child beginning to believe he is enough, believing in himself again.

• Provide safe, stable housing for women and children fleeing violence. Your gift helps subsidize rent and utilities so families can rebuild their lives without facing homelessness as they leave abuse.
• Give moms and children access to counselling and emotional support. Donations ensure families receive individual counselling, group support, children’s groups and trauma informed care that helps them heal and regain confidence.
• Create positive childhood experiences after trauma. Your gift makes field trips, outings, holiday moments, birthdays and joyful activities possible for children and youth who deserve to feel carefree again.
• Support children’s programs that nurture safety, belonging and joy. This includes childcare, after school care, creative learning activities, sensory play and our therapy dog program, which helps children feel calm and connected.
• Strengthen family wellness with on site health care. Families can meet with our nurse practitioner for medical support and guidance in a safe and familiar environment.
• Help families meet their basic needs as they start over. Your support provides groceries, food gift cards, pantry staples and essential household items so moms can build a stable home and keep their children nourished.
